A world of glass...

On the 26th February 2009 Frankfurt opened to its new shopping centre, MyZeil.

A hollowed out facade is the most intriguing feature of the store. The “vortex” swallows up the atrium of the 8 floor department store by invading the space from ceiling to floor in nothing but glass, therefore supplying natural light to all floors. The funnel walls of the facade seamlessly run into the waves of the roof in order to drop steeply down in the shape of a frozen twister!

The department store is home to several restaurants, a fitness centre, and a chain of cinemas and IF needed, a 50 metre long, self supporting escalator called Expressway!
