Lego Bombing and more....

I originally intended to post a quick piece about 'Lego Bombing', where cracks and defects in real life walls are neatly infilled with Lego. However, my google-based research led me to Street Art Utopia, a brilliant site full of images of all kinds of street art from Lego to 'Yarn Bombing' via a load of banksy-esque stuff. Well worth a visit! Here's a few samples of what to expect:

Artist of the Week : Kelvin Okafor

Good morning readers.

Today we bring you a truly incredible artist from London. 27 year old Kelvin Okafor achieves virtually photographic realism in his charcoal and graphite illustrations

Each picture takes around 100 hours to create which is incredible given the detail level of the end result.

Check out some of Kelvin's work below.  You can also visit his blog to see step by step images of him working.

CGI Inspiration - Snow

Hi everyone,

Whilst browsing the internet I recently came across the latest in CGarchitect's "Inspiration" features.

This one is based around snowy 3D visuals and really does showcase some amazing skills. There are quite a few visuals in the post but I have only shown a select few of my personal favourites here.

Be sure to check out the link below for the full post and I hope the images are as inspiring to you as they were to me.

A unique view of our planet

Hi readers,

Today I'd like to share with you a selection of photographs taken by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield that he posted on his twitter account. These landscape photo's that were taken from the International Space Station show the dramatically different conditions found across the planet.

An image of the Australian outback and the redness of it's iron rich soil appearing more vivid from space.

Pakistan's south coast glittering in the sunlight.

A climate boarder created by a snowstorm in the southwest of the United States of America.

Finally the chaotic conditions of the Canadian east coast over land and sea are clear to see.

NewScientist magazine suggest these bleak landscape photographs resemble abstract paintings. I'm not convinced, but these images do give a very unique view of our planet.

Thanks for reading.

Artist of the Week - Eva Kedves

Good Evening Readers.

This week we bring you Eva Kedves, a talented young artist from Hungary.

The paintings below are all digital matte paintings which is the mixture of digital painting and photography. Process and medias aside, it's the composition, lighting, colour and texture that really stands out.

You could easily look at these images and think that they were photos of another world. You could also be forgiven for thinking that the images had been created by an experienced senior artist from one of the worlds top film studios. However, Eva is still a student studying Traditional Art and Design.

This young lady has a great future ahead of her!

Caught in the Loop

In a world full of overcrowded cities with busy commuters, trying to get from A to B as quickly as possible has been the main aim for the clock watching workaholic. Three Bosnian product design students have tried to put a stop to this by creating a bridge in Sarajevo that encourages people to stop, sit down and take in the beautiful scenery.

Most transport links have been designed to be direct as possible, but not this bridge. It provides the pedestrian with a different experience which is less direct. A single curling form made from steel and aluminium incorporates a wooden bench to provide a contemplative haven for pedestrians and visitors to admire this picturesque city. Its unique form ( for a bridge ) looks just as eye catching at night illuminated with bright white LEDs.

Named Festina Lente, the bridge means 'to make haste slowly'. It’s a brave piece of modern architecture and engineering that sits elegantly alongside Sarajevo's historical buildings.

The creation of R'ha

Hello readers,

My name is Ryan and welcome to my first blog since joining the SoVibrant family, but first a little about me. I am the newest member of the Media Productions team and I am extremely excited to be working with such a hugely talented and inspiring group of people.

For my first blog I would like to bring to your attention to a Sci-fi short movie created by Kaleb Lechowski, a 22 year old student during the first year of his animation degree. In just seven months he was able to produce an animation with a high level of visual quality as well as a good narrative. Even if it is not that original, it leaves you wanting more.

This work was completed using software such as Blender, Zbrush, Autodesk Maya, Nuke and Adobe After Effects. In my opinion an amazing achievement considering the quality of the final output, the time it took to create and the fact that he is mostly self taught. It just shows that you don't need a huge budget to create a piece of film that has character and substance, just dedication and talent. I see a bright future for Kaleb, hopefully you will feel the same.

Happy reading.

Orion EFT-1

Good morning readers.

We live on a planet surrounded by billions of stars and probably millions of earth-like planets that in my life time we will never visit. Until recently we thought that NASA had abandoned any human missions out of our atmosphere due to money and materials constraints. But just this week the ESA (European Space Agency) and NASA have given us hope of one day soon traveling to the stars...

On Wednesday the 16th of January at 10:30 a.m. CST, NASA and ESA joined forces on signed off Program "ORION" producing an extra £350 million for the production.

ORION is the future of deep space travel. Replacing the design of Apollo lunar capsule, ORION will be the first manned mission back to the moon since the 70's and the very first vehicle to take humans to the surface of an orbiting asteroid. You might think that this will be in decades to come.. but the first mission of the ORION is due for launch in 2017.

To view an in depth video from NASA about the ORION program click the here:

Or you can view NASA's home page for the ORION at:  www.nasa.gov/orion

Blue blooded talent...

We are delighted to welcome to our Media Productions team our newest signing Ryan Blackburn. Ryan has been undertaking a work placement for us over the past few months and we are delighted to be able to give him the chance to become a full time member of the team. We are proud to be continuing our rapid growth and to be able to give employment opportunities to young people, where many are not. We have been proven right with every chance we have given to the more junior members of our team (many of whom are now not so junior!) and they have, as individuals and as team members, grown at an exceptional rate and demonstrate daily a level of passion, commitment and dedication I am inspired by and proud of.  We will also be welcoming another new team member next week to work within our design and strategy team who I look forward to introducing to you.

We have won a wide range of very sizable and exciting contracts in the last few months.  The team are working on some very exciting projects that we cannot yet talk about but we are very much looking forward to sharing these with you over the coming months. We are continuing our innovative work in the education sector and will shortly be profiling some of the extremely exciting projects we are working on.  I was fortunate today to visit the recently completed first phase of work at one of the school's we are proud to be working in partnership with - Western Primary School in Harrogate.  Walking into an environment where there is such pride, passion and excitement about the changes we are making and the work we have done together, is a big part of what I love about being involved in the world of design. Good design changes lives and improves our experience of the world and this was living proof of that fact.

As always, we are pushing ourselves forward on many fronts and already have a whole host of exciting developments in the pipeline across our brand, offices, business model, digital platforms, products, services and personnel which I also look forward to sharing with you as the year progresses, so watch this space.

There are certainly exciting times ahead for SoVibrant and we are also delighted to be approaching our 4th birthday this year. Time flies as they say...

A happy and prosperous new year to all of our readers.
