I just wanted to write a little about the recent winner of the CGarchitect.com Architectural 3D Awards (link to the animation and runners up below).
Having watched 'The Golden Age' through several times, I have a very split opinion of the animation as a whole and its placing in this competition.
On one hand I am very impressed with the artistry and visual style, as well as the technical skill that has gone into its creation. It is a very beautiful piece of animation that really sets an inspiring mood and entices you to keep watching.
On the other hand though, I would like to ask for your opinions on whether it should win an "Architectural 3D Awards" competition. Of course architecture can be very much subjective and full of personal opinion, but I just have to question the validity of this animation winning the award in this category.
I will leave it up to you to make your own decisions but would love to hear your opinions on the subject and your views on the animation itself.
