Cool Pool

The pool shown below is at the Marina Bay Sands, the world's most expensive hotel in Singapore
It's the world's largest outdoor pool built on the 55th floor of this swanky hotel.

The infinity pool on the roof is in the 'SkyPark' which spans the three towers of the hotel.
The platform itself is longer than the Eiffel tower laid down and is one of the largest of its kind in the world.

Infinity pools give the effect that the water extends to the horizon.
In reality, the water spills over the edge into a catchment below, and is then pumped back into the pool.

Artist of the Week #17. SoVibrant

For a change we thought this week we would show you some of our own most recent pieces of artwork.

The first piece is a commission for a private residence in Surrey. This artwork is printed on a mixture of optically clear vinyl with white ink on the front pane of glass and matte vinyl on the rear face. The artwork has integrated colour change and white lighting, downlighting between each layer.  According to our client it is the "piece de resistance" of his new home.

The second piece is a commission for one of our clients newly refurbished boardroom (also by SoVibrant)

The third piece is a complex interior graphics scheme for the new £900k visitor centre in York, designed by SoVibrant. The scheme opened 3 weeks ago has already had 26,000 visitors and is being heralded as a revolution in visitor information provision.

First Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa, Dubai

Giorgio Armani designed every aspect of the 160 room hotel that occupies the open space to eight floors and levels 38 and 39 in the 160 story, 2625 foot tower.

The hotel has been designed with Eramosa limestone floors, zebrawood panelling, and fabric covered walls in the hotel, its retail outlets and spa. The luxury treatment doesn’t stop with the materials, each hotel guest is assigned a personal “lifestyle manager” upon arrival to ensure their stay is as fantastic as Armani’s vision.

In less than 24 hours the first game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup kicks off in South Africa between South Africa and Mexico.  The greatest show on earth begins tomorrow and England have their best chance of victory since Gazza and Lineker in 1990. Even though Emile  Heskey is in the squad and Theo Walcott isnt.

Artisit of the Week #16. Eric Sin

Eric Sin - A great inspiration to students everywhere. A graphics and illustration major at Fullerton University, California, Eric already has a great eye for composition and is a senior artist at Depthcore.

We are currently  inundated with requests for placements and jobs by students and graduates and felt that a profile of Eric's work was a great way to say  to all you students out there, GET CREATIVE!!!

This is a great example of young talent, quality of presentation, composition and work  that really stands out from the crowd.

The Yas Hotel, Abu Dhabi

'The Best in Abu Dhabi' Awards are a new initiative aimed at recognising the capital’s best in hospitality, culture, social and future developments. The Yas Hotel was commended for its iconic structure and design, being an identifiable landmark of Abu Dhabi’s cityscape.

The Yas hotel is a 500 room, 85,000 square metre complex with state-of-the-art spa and gym, conference and event facilities, and world-class dining in one of its seven restaurants.

The architecture as a whole “performs” as both an environmentally responsive solution and as a phenomenal event. The entire jewel-like composition of the project responds visually and tectonically to its environment to create a distinct and powerful sense of place as well as a breathtaking backdrop to the Formula 1 circuit.

Time Table

Check out this 'time-table' that doubles as a digital clock:

Electro-luminescent film creates the digit segments, allowing the table top thickness to be kept to a minimum. The table includes an alarm and a timer to automatically switch off at night.

Interesting as a novelty, but probably useless once your friends have seen it more than once.
I still like it though.

3D visualisations of the week !

Hi everyone,

This week we are focused on 3D visuals with a difference. The images attached below are realtime screenshots from various sources.

As well as these images achieving an amazing depth of realism and beauty, they are also completely interactive and can be navigated through at upto 60 frames per second. When you first look at these images they are deceptively simple but there is a huge requirement of work and time to create such stunning virtual environments.

Here at Sovibrant we have a background in creating realtime game assets and virtual worlds. We consider the above environments to be a great accomplishment by any standard. they combine incredible beauty with a very high level of technical achievement.

Any C&Cs are welcome and ideas on what processes they may have used to achieve these effects.

Hamburgs new architectural gem!

Elbphilharmonie is a 110metres high building combining tradition and modernity at a very unique location. The building complex accommodates 3 concert halls, 1 hotel, 45 flats and the Plaza and a public square which is elevated thirty seven metres above the Elbe River, along with a 360 degree panoramic view of the city! The acoustically superior concert hall sits at the core 50 metres above the river and aims to become one of the worlds finest music venues. The build has cost a staggering 440million Euros yet more than 77million has come from donations.

The building and its location asks the question, is this just a unique building complex or actually a piece of art? We’ll have to watch this space until completion in 2012 to find out!
